Our client, a multinational engineering consultancy is looking for a Principal Bridge Engineer to join their Rail Structures team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will undertake the design of bridges, retaining walls and other civil structures for various design phases such as concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design. You will also lead a team of Engineers providing technical and project management guidance on a variety of highways and rail structures related projects. Projects include assessments of highway and rail structures as well as new designs for a variety of private and government clients.


The job role will include but not be limited to:  
  • Design of civil and structural schemes (bridges)
  • Review and checks of other schemes prepared by others.
  • Carrying out inspections and surveys of structures and preparing reports.
  • Undertaking feasibility / option studies.
  • Provision of site support to contractors.
  • Preparation of project programmes and cost estimates.
  • Supporting with work winning, project management activities and client facing, to ensure project delivery remains on plan.
  • Production of quotations for clients and responding to tender enquiries.
 
Job Requirement
  • Chartered, Incorporated.
  • Significant structures and bridge design experience to DMRB, Eurocodes, SHW and NEC contracts.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a design team environment.
  • Able to lead high quality structures/bridge technical design on projects including supervision of less experienced colleagues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of constructability of designs is desirable.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer looking to progress into a principal role or alternatively a Principal Bridge Engineer looking for a fresh challenge.
