Employee Relations Specialist
Location: North London / Hybrid
Rate: £29.79 per hour (Umbrella)
A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join on an interim basis. The role will provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment law and promoting sound employee relations across the organisation.

A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join on an interim basis. The role will provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment law and promoting sound employee relations across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a professional, accurate and timely HR advisory service to managers and staff.
- Support managers with complex employee relations cases including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, and absence management.
- Advise on organisational change projects, including restructures and redundancies.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, managers, and trade union representatives.
- Monitor and update casework schedules and performance data, identifying trends and advising on interventions.
- Support manager development through coaching, HR training, and workshops.
Experience & Knowledge
- HR experience in a Local Government or public sector setting, ideally within a unionised, multi-site environment.
- Strong track record in handling complex ER casework and organisational change.
- Excellent knowledge of employment law, policies and procedures, and best practice.
- Skilled in working with trade unions and managing employee relations collaboratively.
- Understanding of equality, diversity, safeguarding, and their application in ER practice.
- Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
