We are currently dealing with a major Engineering consultancy who are looking for a Principal Permanent Way Design Engineer on a contract basis to be based in York with the said consultancy having a work bank on some of the UK leading infrastructure projects such as TRU and HS2.

As the Principal Engineer within the Track team, you will lead and direct teams of Permanent Way Design Engineers and Technicians in producing engineering surveys, designs, studies and reports for railway infrastructure projects.

You will lead and direct a team of Track Design Engineers and technicians to ensure the effective delivery of clients’ contracts, acting as the Track CRE and Lead Engineer as directed on specific projects. You will also take a lead on the client relationship management

As mentioned, this a contract position which will be an initially 6-month period. The role will be based in York so could suit candidates in the surrounding Yorkshire region, such as Leeds, Doncaster or Sheffield. Moving forward the said consultancy will continue to adopt a 50/50 week of working from home and office when open again with everyone working from home currently. There is also potential to be based in the Manchester office as well.


Job Requirements

• Professional qualifications: Incorporated or Chartered engineer
• Detailed experience of Permanent Way engineering design
• Proficient at design software such as Microstation, Mx, BRT and ClearRoute
• Detailed Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with Permanent Way design
• Experience in CRE on Network Rail schemes
• Experience in acting as the Lead Engineer
