We are currently dealing with a safety, standards and research body for Great Britain’s rail network who are looking at expanding the Control, Command Signalling (CCS) team in London by recruiting a Leads CCS Engineer. Within the role the you’ll develop and guide standards, getting involved in research, and then implementation of standards whilst also working on project level.  As the Principal CCS Engineer you’ll develop the CCS requirements and guidance for the UK main line railway, covering topics such as, ETCS/ERTMS systems, Traffic Management, Conventional Railway Signalling, Train control and protection systems, Train location and positioning systems and Informatics, communications and technology (ICT). Typical job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver CCS requirements, rationale and guidance that are complete, accurate and compliant with the standards code and manual
  • Influence an improved level of understanding within the organisation and across the wider industry of the role of requirements in supporting the achievement of technical compatibility and safe integration.
  • Lead and work with relevant engineering and operational specialists to develop CCS system requirements, rationale and guidance in the context of the railway system covering, Technical compatibility at European, national and route levels, as defined by the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations: and safe integration, to support the rail industry approach to applying the common safety method for risk evaluation and assessment (CSM RA).
  • Support the delivery of industry projects, including research, covering new and existing CCS technologies
 
Job Requirements
  • Experience in the rail transport sector.
  • Experience within Rail Signalling
  • Experience with ETCS
  • Experience of developing requirements
  • Understanding of requirements, rationale and guidance in the context of the standards code and manual.
  • Understanding of the whole railway system and an ability to apply specialist knowledge to the system.
  • Understanding of current and emerging technologies as applied to rail
