Electrical Inspector – North London – £45.83 per hour (Umbrella)
A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to join their robust and professional team of electrical engineers working within the residential social housing sector.
You will play a key role in the cyclical replacement of electrical services across a diverse building stock comprising approximately 2,500 residential blocks and over 35,000 dwellings, including more than 200 high-rise buildings. You will play a key role in the cyclical replacement of electrical services across a diverse building stock comprising approximately 2,500 residential blocks and over 35,000 dwellings, including more than 200 high-rise buildings. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team committed to improving safety, compliance, and quality in social housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct surveys of low-rise and high-rise residential buildings
- Produce comprehensive Condition Reports and Feasibility Reports
- Carry out site inspections, including:
Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers and attend progress meetings- Monitoring the progress of electrical works
- Identifying regulatory, health & safety, and specification issues
- Maintaining detailed records of project journeys and findings
- Provide customer care, including resident liaison (occasional out-of-hours work with TOIL)
- Work closely with stakeholders, including Quantity Surveyors and Main Contractors
- Ensure quality standards, including snagging and final inspections
- Support the handover process using the Soft Landings approach to Repairs & Maintenance
Requirements:
- City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification
- IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition
- 5+ years' experience in electrical inspection or a similar role within contracting or consultancy
- Proven knowledge of electrical installations in domestic and communal residential buildings
- Skilled in producing technical reports and condition assessments
- Strong IT literacy and ability to use relevant systems and documentation tools
