Interim Director of Corporate Property – Central London – £663.83 a day (Umbrella)
A Central London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Corporate Property to lead the strategic management of a diverse and high-value property portfolio, driving alignment with the council’s Fairer vision.
You will oversee capital programmes, sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives, asset optimisation, and commercial investments, while cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

You will oversee capital programmes, sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives, asset optimisation, and commercial investments, while cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver corporate property strategies, including estate optimisation and carbon reduction.
- Manage a property portfolio with a total budget of around £217m, including £44m commercial income and £31m non-pay costs.
- Advise senior officers and elected members on property policy, compliance, and best practice.
- Drive commercial opportunities and investment planning to maximise value and diversify assets.
- Ensure statutory compliance, health and safety, and accessibility across all council properties.
- Lead the Corporate Health & Safety team, ensuring robust governance and systems.
- Provide high-quality, fit-for-purpose accommodation for council services.
- Embed effective performance monitoring and reporting across the property function.
- Champion inclusive leadership and advance the council’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion goals.
About You
- Proven experience leading property functions within large, complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of both commercial and operational property sectors.
- Expertise in estates, FM, construction, or building services.
- Skilled in strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and budget management.
- Track record of delivering transformational property programmes.
- MRICS or equivalent professional qualification (preferred).
