Health, Safety & Security Manager / Senior HSS Manager – Major Civils (Client-side)

A major UK infrastructure programme requires interim Health, Safety & Security Managers and Senior HSS Managers to support Tier 1 civils delivery teams within an Integrated Project Team environment.
These roles sit client-side and are designed to be active, embedded and intervention-led. Active Client Teams will review safety data and site practices, identify emerging risks, and deliver targeted interventions to mitigate high-risk construction activities. The role combines partnership with delivery teams and supply chain, alongside the confidence to challenge where required.
Responsibilities include:

• Client-side safety / occupational health / security operational assurance
• Working with senior IPT leadership and JV delivery teams to improve safety performance
• Assurance reporting, corrective actions and follow-up
• Incident investigation and root cause learning
• Supporting delivery teams in adopting best-in-class safety practice

Requirements:

• Tier 1 contractor / major civils experience (rail, highways, tunnelling, structures, earthworks etc.)
• Ability to operate with authority in client-side roles and challenge unsafe practice
• Strong investigation / assurance reporting capability
• H&S qualification essential (Chartered level expectation for Senior roles)

Location: Birmingham / Midlands (typically 3 days per week on site)
Rate (Umbrella, inside IR35): £450–£600/day depending on level
