Environment Manager
We're working with a major client delivering Britain's high-speed rail infrastructure, and we're recruiting an Environment Manager to provide technical leadership on environmental compliance and delivery.
This is a specialist assurance role. You'll work alongside contractors and project teams to ensure environmental standards are embedded in design and construction across a portfolio of major civil contracts. You're responsible for checking that works comply with environmental requirements and commitments, guiding contractors through complex environmental regulations, and ensuring that environmental thinking shapes the project at every stage.
You'll combine deep technical knowledge of environmental law and sustainability with the ability to influence contractors and senior stakeholders. You'll develop environmental solutions that are practical and cost-effective, liaise with regulators and communities on sensitive issues, and translate environmental requirements into clear standards that the supply chain can deliver against.
What You'll Bring
You're a professional with strong experience on large infrastructure projects civils, rail, or similar. You understand UK environmental law, CDM regulations, and how to manage competing project demands. You hold a professional qualification in an environmental discipline or equivalent experience. You're technically sound, commercially aware, and skilled at solving problems across complex project interfaces. You can communicate specialist environmental ideas clearly to colleagues and stakeholders who don't share your technical background.
This is a supporting role where you'll work closely with a senior environmental manager. We're looking for someone with a solid foundation across most of the required skills, who is keen to develop and grow into the position. You might be experienced in one area, say contaminated land or ecological assessment, but keen to build capabilities in other environmental disciplines.
