Assistant Signalling Design Engineer

We are currently working with a major engineering consultancy who are looking to recruit Assistant Signalling Design Engineers in either the Bristol, Swindon, or Cardiff offices. As Assistant Signalling Design Engineer you will work closely with clients to build relationships, as well as having the opportunity to develop leadership capabilities.


As Assistant Signalling Design Engineer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Carrying out site surveys, identifying risks and hazards, as well as providing appropriate reporting
  • Carrying out design and assessment work for signalling/system elements of projects with minimal supervision
  • Keep up to date with current NWR, RSSB, and British standards relevant to signalling/systems design
  • Prepare both design development reports and details signalling design
  • Communicate effectively with other design/construction disciplines and sub-contractors

Job requirements:
  • A current IRSE Signalling Design Assistant License, or be working towards the license
  • Knowledge of interfaces between signalling/system engineering and other railway disciplines and how these are managed
  • The ability to use the design software in the discipline (CAD etc.)

As mentioned, this position as Assistant Signalling Design Engineer is based in the Southwest of England in either Bristol, Swindon, or Cardiff so would suit candidates in the surrounding areas or slightly further afield with WFH flexibility.
